Poppy & Princess

As most of you who know me probably already know, I absolutely adore my grandfather, known to almost all as Poppy. We've had a connection from the moment I was born when his little "Princess" would take naps on his chest. Growing up, he was the first mate on a large deep sea fishing boat and I spent winters in Florida at his side.

So, last weekend Poppy came to visit John and I in Houston. We had a very nice weekend of taking walks, eating & drinking well and watching football. Pretty much a normal weekend in the CoJo house, just with a much loved extra addition. Allie came over on Sunday night for a little pre-Thanksgiving feast of turkey and the fixins' and we had a fun time hearing Poppy talk about the old days in the Marine Corp, dating married women, meeting my grandma, and fishing. It was so nice to have him here and can't wait until he comes back. :-)



On a side note and one of those "Wow, its such a small world moments" - John's current boss at Cemex worked on a fishing boat in Hoboken, NJ called the Palace when he was a teenager. Pop's best friend in Stuart, Warren, was the captain of that boat back then. We put the connection together this weekend and gave Warren's phone number to Jim so they can reconnect after all these years. How crazy is that?!
